Joy of Cooking/Unique Eats/CakeWrecks.com/ Simmer Down (Detroit Food Blog)

Joy of Cooking –  There’s a reason this classic is one of the most published cookbooks in the United States and why home cooks and chefs alike swear by it.  Any recipe, food,
technique, meal or problem can be found in this veritable food bible.

Unique Eats – This entry from the Cooking Channel focuses on eateries across the country pushing the culinary envelope.  Bacon Caramel Popcorn, S’Mores Pie and Prosciutto Ice Cream are just a few of the dishes that make us want to lick the TV.

Undergrounddetroit.com – Helmed by a group
of local food and drink professionals, this blog highlights Detroit’s thriving
culinary scene.  Check out the entry
on Chinese Tea, with a mention of our very own Goldfish Tea!

Mastering the Art of French Cooking – For those of you who fell in love with the movie “Julie and Julia,” read the inspiration behind it. This definitive guide on French cuisine
is a treasure trove of information with detailed illustrations to boot.  You’ll want to run out and buy a chef’s jacket and beret.

Anna and Christina’s Grocery Bag – This Canadian import, seen on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) features two home cooks tackling the culinary arts by making the dishes in both classic and modern cookbooks.  At least we’re not the only ones who struggle to make the dish look like the picture.

The Cook’sDen.com – Billed as the place “where cooks hang out,” this Web site takes a lighthearted view on all things food and cooking including cookbook, product and recipe
reviews.  But don’t be surprised to find such countdowns as best foodies to follow on Twitter and worst cooking shows.

“Lunch in Paris” by Elizabeth Bard – The quintessential American in Paris tale as told through food.  American journalist, Elizabeth Bard, shares the story of how she fell in love with her French husband through French cuisine while living in France.  Included are a plethora of recipes, both French and American, along with romantic tidbits.  Vive La France!

Bizarre Foods – You need a strong stomach to watch this show and an even stronger one to be its host.  Andrew Zimmern travels the world eating as the natives do, no matter how outrageous, from dumpster diving for dinner in San Francisco to munching down on brain tacos in Baja.  No matter what, it’s always an interesting trip.  Tuesdays at 9 E/P on the Travel Channel.

ruthreichl.com – The legendary editor-in-chief of the late “Gourmet” magazine and restaurant critic for both “The New York Times” and “Los Angeles Times,” has opened up shop on the Internet.  Reichl blogs about her food adventures and shares recipes from her bestselling books, which are on sale at the site.  Delish.

“Giada at Home” by Giada de Laurentis – California fresh with an Italian attitude, Giada delivers such mouthwatering recipes in her new book (mascarpone chive dip, fried olives, limoncello granita) we’ll forgive how she can eat like this and stay so tiny.

Top Chef All-Stars – Gathering together the best of the best “Top Chef” competitors from past seasons, this installment of the popular show gives us more outlandish challenges (serve dim sum to a crowd of hungry diners during lunch rush) and more delectable food to eyeball and wish we knew how to cook.  The best part?  Since we already know everyone, we don’t have to play “getting to know you.”  Who are you rooting for to come out on top?

Chowhound.com – Tips, hints, tricks, video and recipes galore.  Our favorite?  RuBo, an advice columnist who’s a fictional mash-up of Ruth Reichl and Anthony Bourdain addressing such thorny dilemmas as cell phones at the table and holiday etiquette, answering as only a fictional mash-up of Ruth Reichl and Anthony Bourdain could.
